Why a Gypsy Gospel Event.
Now it had already occurred to me that there have been many events about the Jews in the Holocaust - and rightly so.
But there were also many Sinti and Roma folk who died in the camps too. I wasn't actually taking this idea seriously until at one Friday evening meeting I was praying for people at the front of the church. A Sinti lady, came up to me and said that as she looked at the cross on the wall at the front of the church, she had a vision of blood flowing down the wall; the blood of all those of her people who died in Auschwitz.
"That was not for you, that was for me!" I replied. So from that point on I was determined to put on an event in Dachau for the Sinti-Roma people. Where they can praise God together, where they can as a group in Dachau forgive Germans for what happened, and Germans for what happened to the Sinti-Roma people.
This may sound far fetched to those with no spiritual insight, but this is going to chip away at that "glass dome".
It will also raise the people up as a group. The Sinti and Roma people are the oldest minority group in Germany. They are also brilliantly gifted musicans. And I believe it is God's will for this people that they are not just known for doing the jobs at the lower end but they become the initiators and managers and influencial people in this society.
My dream is to see a meeting place in Dachau where people don't just come to see the worst of the world and the past
but the grace of God and the future.
What will take place?
The most part will be music from both Sinti and Roma people also in their own languages and in German. Plus there will be some short talks by Sinti and Roma people.
The aim is that the Sinti and Roma people have a platform to reach out to their own people as well as the people of Dachau.
